Artist Bio

My interest in photography began in highschool when I stumbled upon the medium as an elective.  I was immediately captivated by it and, after early competitive successes, I decided to pursue a career in the field.  I earned a degree in digital photography from the International Academy of Design and Technology in 2006.  My earliest works were focused heavily upon botanicals.  As I honed my skills further I delved into still lifes, portraiture, event photography, architectural details, culinary photos, and abstracts.

My latest endeavors have been exploring the photographic technique commonly known as “light painting”.  Due to my somewhat shy nature, most of my light paintings are abstract self portraits.  Invented in 1889 and explored by many influential artists such as Gjon Mili  and  Pablo Picasso, light painting is a long exposure photo typically taken in a very dark environment.  Exposures can range anywhere from 1 second to many minutes.  During this long exposure the artist moves a light (or series of lights) around as if they were painting a scene while surrounded by darkness.
